The Literary Consultancy Celebrates its 15th Birthday
The Literary Consultancy is fifteen years old this May. To celebrate the company has planned two birthday events: a Master Class with Jacob Ross, and a celebration of the short story with Dame Margaret Drabble and Helen Simpson.
'TLC's hallmarks are their concern for literary values, their honesty, and their innovative approach to the way we write and publish now. The future of writers is safe in their skilful and adventurous hands'
Carmen Callil, author, publisher and Booker Prize Judge
TLC was co-founded in 1996 by Rebecca Swift and Hannah Griffiths. It was the first company to offer writers working at any level the full attention of a professional editor. Since inception it has flourished and diversified, and now offers an international mentoring service, and a range of literary events.
In the last fifteen years the literary landscape has changed: publishing has been radically affected by new technologies and a host of new opportunities have emerged online as the traditional industry mutates. The Consultancy sees its role as more important than ever as it offers writers independent access to first-class editorial help.
Now based at the vibrant Free Word Centre, TLC continues to find innovative ways to advise writers about their publishing options and keep track of literary value.
TLC is:
- The UK’s leading manuscript assessment and editorial service
- Now offering mentoring, events, classes and literary holidays
- Exclusively recommended by the Guardian’s online book page
- A Founding Member of The Free Word Centre
- Supported by Arts Council England
