From 2:30 –5:30pm, join our master class exploring great writing with Professor Brenda Cooper,  then stay on for an inspiring and useful discussion at 6:30pm about the publishing process hosted by Paul Blezard, historical novelist Fiona Mountain and literary agent Broo Doherty. 

Free Word is for young people too! On 23rd September, between 4-6pm, your kids can come and write haikus and make Christmas Crackers with Rebecca Swift (suitable for ages 13-16).

Also as part of the Free Word Festival, on 28th September come and learn about what is happening for writers in this country. TLC’s Big Publishing Debate investigates the future of publishing, in what is sure to be a cracking discussion chaired by The Observer's literary commentator Robert McCrum. The panel comprises the Head of Books at Amazon Gordon Willoughby, Google's Santiago de la Mora, digital guru Bill Thompson and the Head of Digital at Canongate publishers Dan Franklin. If you are serious about writing this is not to be missed.

Looking for a writing getaway?  If you’re interested in finding out more about our Literary Adventure holidays being run next March and April: join us in London on 26th October from 6—8pm for a literary adventures evening at Free Word, where you’re welcome to ask us questions, have a drink, listen to music, and hear poetry to inspire.
