TLC Chapter and Verse Industry Day and Recent Success Stories
Our Chapter & Verse mentoring scheme recently hosted another TLC industry day for the next set of finishing mentees. Will Atkins from Macmillan New Writing, Anna Webber from Curtis Brown Literary Agency and Arzu Tahsin, commissioning editor at Weidenfeld & Nicolson, held a lively panel discussion giving our mentees an insight into what agents and editors are looking for. At the end we even held an energetic round of practice pitches, where the agents and editors gave their honest initial impressions and advice. For more information about our mentoring scheme: www.literaryconsultancy.co.uk/mentoring/.
Our manuscript assessment service continues as ever, as we try to give honest, in-depth, and professional feedback to writers working at all levels. We would like to congratulate Shelley Harris, Alan Clark and Leaf Fielding in particular, for selling their books to Weidenfeld & Nicolson, Arcadia and Serpents' Tail respectively.

TLC's Big Publishing Debate hits press
Our last event at Free Word, TLC's Big Publishing Debate, drew a crowd and created a heated debate over the future of technology and publishing. To learn more about how the evening went, check out our host Robert Mccrum's article in the Observer at: www.guardian.co.uk/books/booksblog/ or the article featured in the Bookseller at: www.thebookseller.com/news/.
We aim to keep abreast of any issues and keep you informed with more debates and news posted on our website. These are difficult and unpredictable times for selling books, but writers are finding outlets as they can and we want to keep our audience aware of their options.
